Did you MISS ME? NY was FABULOUS!!! We toured the West Point Museum (Uncle huge history buff), I worked out at the Vanderbilt Mansion grounds, had a great birthday party for my Uncle & I went to my very FIRST drive in movie (that was AWESOME!). Yesterday was my last day of boot camp – sniff sniff. I think that my body (especially knees) are praising me for not signing up for another camp right now. It has been 3 months of “torture” & pounding on my knees with squats, running, lunges & more. They are not happy with me right now (it’s not so much the knee, but my osgood schlatters disease that is acting up). I am now “on my own” for the next 2 weeks leading up to the FINALE — I have already set up extra running dates with Amanda, sports with Brandon & swimming with Laurel (INSERT real workout now). New commercial hit the airwaves last week & then we have one more to be produced. Winner announcement party is Sept 21st — I can’t wait! I would say: may the best contestant win, but when you really think about it we ARE ALL WINNERS – every single one of us. We have all adapted to a new and healthier lifestyle for ourselves (with family and friends incorporated in for support &/or they might be losing weight as well). This is not something that we’re just going to “kick to the curb” as of September 22nd.
Headed back home today for volleyball and Friday football game (GO LEPS GO!!) It’s also Labor Day weekend which is Fayette County Country Fair…good music, friends, rides, livestock show, crafts & FUNNEL CAKE! Looks like this year I won’t be having that. I’m cool with it. Just excited to go home and see people that I haven’t seen in years & catch up!
Have a safe and Happy Labor day weekend everyone.

THANK YOU….THANK YOU….(picture the skinny girl taking a bow) & she keeps walking.
Yesterday, that is how I felt at work as I strolled the hallway from my office to the front to check the mailboxes & as I pass by Karen’s office … Hey there SKINNY GIRL! After the words came out of her mouth & they finally connected with my brain, I almost stopped dead in my tracks to look around for a fellow employee, but I didn’t — I knew that I was the only one in the hallway and that she was talking to M-E! So, without hesitation I chanted back…Well, THANK YOU very much & just about skipped down the rest of the hallway as if going to Grandmother’s house (like Little Red Riding Hood – minus the basket) but with a HUGE smile on my face. {Footnote: Can’t remember being called skinny since when I was like 10 years old or so — or maybe a teenager}
Last night, I was laying on my side watching TV & my BOY commented on how much he loves my curvacious body (as he called it)! I told him THANKS & then commented on how well he’s looking himself. We’re not so much doing this for each other (which is part of it), but the main reason is to do this for OURSELVES!!! I wanna be married over 63+ years like my Grandparents & be as active as they are. (I’ll be in my 90s, but I’m sure I’ll still be as fiesty..LOL!)
Conquered boot camp this AM @ 5:45 even though I didn’t want to. Filming a commercial tonight! While getting ready for work, I decided to weigh myself & I have FINALLY – Yes, FINALLY beaten the 230 mark. See you later gater. I even weighed myself twice to make sure the scale was correct.
You know back in the day, I wouldn’t tell anyone how much I weighed (except my Mother) & now I really don’t mind sharing with the class. Class – I weighed in at 229 this AM.
Today is my Friday – off to NY for a birthday party and see family and friends. Might be my last BLOG until I get back. Last time I was there was in February of this year when I weighed in the high 260s — it’s going to be interesting to see everyone’s reactions. (I know…hold back the tears people). I have truly enjoyed this overall experience & I’m so blessed to be sharing my challenges, shortfalls & goal conquering with my supporters, family & friends. Thank You to all who are on my Team & helping me get through this as I go down this wonderful journey in life that is here to stay!
Much LOVE People -

P.S. Wore my camo boot camp shirt on Monday to boot camp and my instructor Toni even commented on how well it looked on me (she was the only person that saw how it looked on me the first time around). Now, if that doesn’t get you “pumped” then I’m not sure what does!!

So, for me & the joy of putting myself through boot camps — you get a FREE shirt after successfully completing 3 weeks. (choice between Camo & Dri-Fit). I was dead set on getting the camo shirt on my first boot camp, but after trying it on it was a little too tight & therefore I had to go with dri-fit. Wasn’t happy about my decision, but I went with it. ROUND 2 of boot camp & it’s time for shirts – I decided to go with the Camo (whether it fit or not – wasn’t going to try it on this time — I was just going to take it and run). Washed it up this weekend and guess what I’m wearing to work today — BOOT CAMP CAMO SHIRT with room to spare. HA – TAKE THAT! So, all of my hard work in my boot camp endeavors as well as other workouts have paid off. HOORAY!
FYI – this past Friday marked our 1 month out until this competition is over! I have my goals set and posted everywhere…here we go – cracking down to business.

Have a great week!

19th August 2010

HI, my name is Karina & I belong to…(you see the title – fill in the blank)! WOW!!! What a whirl wind lately juggling workouts, life & everything in between. I’ve signed up to play on another volleyball league (this one sand & I also play indoor), boot camp at the Y (today is Day 3 of Week 4 & I get my shirt!), thinking of a flag football league. I’ve hit more golf & tennis balls lately than usual (THANK YOU Brandon for the coaching & butt kicking on the court!)
At our last meeting, Peggy said that I was an EXTREME Blogger — I thanked her and proceeded to say that was because my Mom needs new material on an almost daily basis..LOL! (Love you MOM..AKA: #1 Fan). The next meeting we have will be in September as our Challenge comes to a close EXCEPT the last meeting is going to be a P-A-R-T-Y from what I understand. Who doesn’t LOVE a good party!!! Tomorrow, August 20th we will have 1 more month – it has just flown by. Everyone has been a HUGE help into turning all contestants into a success & we THANK YOU!!!
Filming our second to last commercial next week as well. Will keep ya’ll posted on when it will air.
Almost down another 8 pounds from my second boot camp – goal is 10 in this 6 weeks. As it’s A LOT hotter outside in the PM than the first boot camp, I’m just drenched after the torture hour & I’m hoping that helps me out. BOY looking good too as he is down about 20 pounds…proud of you sweetheart!
Shout out to my wonderful parents..
Happy 35th Wedding Anniversary this Sunday. We LOVE you & 35 more to go. Also, Happy Birthday to my loving husband, my Martian Uncle & Happy 60th to my Dad. Ya’ll have a good weekend & GO LEPS GO!

OK, not really but I liked the title!! Went to boot camp yesterday and weighed myself on that ‘vicious’ scale and I am finally under the 240** mark…HOORAY! That right there gave me the BOOST to get through the 104+ heat, camp & then I decided to go run the trail.
Shout out to Aunt Rita…THANKS for noticing that I’m looking “hot” (as you put it) & that my tummy is getting smaller. Finally getting to see the real results that I want!!!
We have 1 more Subway meeting with contestants tomorrow and then we won’t see each other until day of winner revealed (September 20th). THANKS to all who read and comment on my BLOG and push me in the right directions…
**(And to think that at one point in my life when I got on that ‘vicious’ scale it said…278!??!) That’s like carrying around an EXTRA 2 1/2 of my 5 month old niece — NO THANK YOU!

THANKS to Jill for the motivational quotes of the week! These are 3 of my FAVE (so far). HUGE THANK YOU to AMANDA for re-mixing my MP3 player. The songs on there now really help get me through those last 5 mintues of my workouts – YOU ROCK!!!

FINALLY!!!

05th August 2010

My Mom FINALLY saw my commercial on TV, except it really wasn’t my commercial..LOL! It was the one with all of the contestants faces and “stayed tuned”. She was just ecstatic that she FINALLY got to see my face!!!
Wore a tight”er” fitting shirt today and I’ve gotten a bunch of compliments! LOVING IT!!! If I would have worn this shirt at the very beginning of this competition I’m just sure I would have gotten some snarls-raised eyebrows-”ooh no you didn’t” looks…
Looking forward to next weekend as I travel to my hometown and see people that I haven’t seen in almost a year. Didn’t quite make my personal goal that I set for myself for the end of July (missed it by 5 pounds – I did travel ALOT with the 3 weddings, so I was happy that I wasn’t off by 15 pounds). Doubling up on cardio for 2 days out of the week — the contest is coming to a close & I’m getting super excited to see the final results. We have 1 more day of boot camp and then we’ll be done with week 2. Working up to the end of week 3 & I’ll get another T-shirt!
Have a FAB weekend everyone! Stay cool (if that’s possible in TX at all in August)
Peace Out -

Jill’s Road Map to Success

02nd August 2010

Dear Jill,

THANK YOU for continuing to kick my tail at the gym week to week. I really apreciate all of the hard work you give me to do. Your road map to success will be truly missed once the competition is over, but I have it down now (to a science)! Your dedication to us contestants is greatly appreciated.

Also, a HUGE shout out and THANK YOU to my husband for loving me no matter what size I am and always being very supportive!!! Love you BOY!

Karina

P.S. Dear month of August – just because you are going to bring us your 100+ temperatures doesn’t mean you will deterrent me from finishing out a WINNER…just thought I’d give you a heads up.
